IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) has notified the IBPS Clerk 2018 Notification for Common Written Examination (CWE) for recruitment of Clerical Cadre in public sector banks. The IBPS Clerk CWE is conducted every year. The exam is divided further into two stages known as the Preliminary Exam and the Main Exam. The committee has made some changes in the exam as mentioned in the details below.

IBPS Clerk 2018 Notification

This year's clerical recruitment process was kicked off with the release of Official Notification for IBPS Clerk 2018 Exam on September 14, 2018. This is a long process with many stages and you need to carefully follow all the steps in the process. Candidates can apply online for the IBPS Clerical Exam from September 18, 2018. The online application process will end on October 10, 2018.

The next stage in the process will be the online preliminary test, followed by the mains test. IBPS Clerk Official Notification provided four dates for the IBPS Clerk preliminary exam: December 08 and 09, 2018, December 15 and 16, 2018. The notification says that the mains exam will be conducted on January 20, 2019.

IBPS Clerk 2018 Vacancy

IBPS Clerk 2018-19 Recruitment process offers a total of 7275 vacancies as per the official notification by IBPS. This is lower than the last year's vacancies which were 7883 in total. However, there are still a lot of posts to try for.

Stages of IBPS Clerk 2018

IBPS Clerk CWE consists of two stages (as there is no interview for clerical cadre recruitment now):

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination

Please note that you need to clear the preliminary exam to be eligible to sit for the main exam. This is just an elimination stage and the scores are not counted in the final ranking. The final offer is made on the basis of the score in the main exam only as per the IBPS Clerk 2018 Notification.

IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern

You must be aware of the pattern of the IBPS Clerk examination before you start preparing for the test. This is how to prepare for the IBPS Clerk exam:

Stage 1: IBPS Clerk Preliminary Examination

This is the elimination stage that you must clear. The online preliminary exam for IBPS Clerk has three sections only, namely English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. You must score more than the cut off of each section. Candidates will be selected for the main exam based on the sectional cut off marks. The exam carries a total of 100 marks. All the questions will be Objective Type  Multiple Choice in nature.

Note: You will get only 20 minutes for each section making the complete exam just an hour long.

There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for questions you don’t attempt.

Stage 2: IBPS Clerk Main Examination

In the latest IBPS Clerk 2018 Notification IBPS has announced major changes in the pattern of the IBPS Clerk Main Exam for 2018-19. You now need to answer 190 questions in the maximum allotted time of 160 minutes.

The sections Computer Aptitude and Reasoning Ability have been merged into a single section of 50 questions. The complete details of the new IBPS Clerk pattern are given below:

IBPS Clerk 2018 Syllabus

Both the pre and the main exam have English, Reasoning and Mental Ability in the syllabus. However, the main exam also has two additional topics, i.e. Computer Aptitude and Financial Awareness. Educational Qualification:

Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. The candidate should have passed English as one of the subjects at SSC/ HSC/Intermediate/ Graduation level.

IBPS Clerk 2018 Admit Card & Call Letter

IBPS will intimate all eligible candidates about the written exam on the e-mail IDs and phone numbers provided during the registration. You will then need to download the admit card to appear for the IBPS Clerk 2018 Exam. No physical copies of the admit card will be sent to the candidates.

IBPS Clerk 2018 Results

IBPS publishes the final state wise and category wise merit list on their official website. The final selection list will be released after the main exam result. You can expect this within a month of the final written test.
