(A) Department of Medical Education, HP
1. Assistant Professor (Class I, Gazetted):
No of Posts: 04 posts
(Periodontics: 01, Operative Dentistry: 01, Oral Medicine and Radiology: 01, Dentistry: 01)
Pay Scale: Rs.16350-20100/-
Maximum Age: 45 years (as on 01-01-2008)
Essential Qualification:
A recognised BDS Degree from the Indian University constituted under the Statue or an equivalent qualification and having recognised post graduation degree or its equivalent in the concerned speciality and possess at least three years teaching experience as Lecturer (Dentistry) in a Dental College recognised by Dental Council of India in the concerned Specialty after doing post graduation in the concerned speciality.
Post Graduation Qualification:
Master Degree in Dental Surgery in the concerned subject.
2. Professor
No of Posts: 04 posts
(Oral Medicine and Radiology: 01, Oral & Dental Pathology including Dental Anatomy: 01, Community Dentistry: 01, Orthodontics=01)
Pay Scale: Rs.Rs.18600-22100/-
Maximum Age: 45 years
Essential Qualifications:
A recognised BDS Degree from the Indian University constituted under the Statue or an equivalent qualification and having recognised post graduation degree or its equivalent in the concerned specialty and possess at least five years teaching experience as Reader/Assistant Professor (Dentistry) after three years teaching experience as Lecturer (Dentistry) in a Dental College recognised by the Dental Council of India in the concerned specialty after doing post graduation in the concerned speciality i.e. 08 years total teaching experience as Lecturer (Dentistry) and Assistant Professor (Dentistry).
Note:
However, for the purpose of teaching oral Anatomy and Histology, Dental materials and community Dentistry a candidate with BDS or equivalent qualification with 10 years teaching experience in that subject may be considered for the post of Reader/ Assistant Professor(Dentistry) till such time Post Graduate training facilities in this subject is available in our country. However, such a candidate without Post Graduate qualification can not be considered for the post of Professor.
Post Graduation Qualification:
Master’s Degree in Dental Surgery in the concerned subject
(B) Department of Higher Education, HP
1. Lecturer - College Cadre (Class I, Gazetted)
No of Posts: 73 (various subjects, reserved for PH persons belonging to HP)
Pay Scale: Rs. 8000-13500/-
Maximum Age: 45 years.
Essential Qualifications:
(i) A good academic record with at least 55% marks or an equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed in Master’s degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from Foreign University recognised by the Govt. of India.
(ii) For the Lecturer in Fine Arts also i.e Commercial Arts , Drawing and Painting and Sculpture , Master’s Degree in Fine Arts having good academic record with 55% marks or equivalent of 55% wherever grading system is followed.
(iii) A relaxation of 5% is provided from 55% to 50% marks , at the Master’s Degree for the SC/ST Categories.
(iv) A relaxation of 5% is provided from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. degree holders who have passed their Master’s Degree prior to September, 1991.
(v) “B” in the seven point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F shall be regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed.
(vi) Candidates besides fulfilling the above qualifications should have cleared the eligibility test(NET) for Lecturers conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the State Public Service Commission.
(vii) NET shall remain the compulsory requirement for appointment as Lecturers for those with post graduate degree. However, the candidates having Ph.D. Degree in the concerned subject are exempted from NET for PG level and UG level teaching. The candidates having M.Phil degree in the concerned subject are exempted from NET for UG level teaching only.

- Candidates who have submitted their thesis, or are likely to submit shortly, may also apply.
- The retirement age of faculty members is 65 years and may be extended upto 70 years.
- For deserving candidates, higher initial pay may be considered.
- Central Govt. reservation policy will be followed.

Professor: Rs. 16400-22400/-
