Syllabus: SSC Tax Assistant Recruitment Exam

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts a written exam and skill test for recruitment of Tax Assistants. The examination is conducted in two parts:

Part I: Written Examination

The Written Examination will consist of two Papers I and II.

Paper I (200 Marks, 2 Hours):

Paper I will be Objective Type Multiple Choice

Part A: General English (100 Marks)

Part B: General Awareness (100 Marks)

Paper II (100 Marks, 2 Hours)

Paper II will be of Conventional (Descriptive) Type.

Arithmetic (100 Marks)

NOTE:

Question Paper (Test Booklets) for part B of Paper I (General Awareness) and Paper II (Arithmetic) will be set both in English and Hindi. Paper II (Conventional Paper) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Paper I at the minimum standard which may be decided by the Commission at its discretion.

Part II: SKILL TEST

Data Entry Speed of 8000 Key Depressions per hour (appropriate to the text) on computer. This Data Entry Speed/Skill Test would be of qualifying nature.

Paper I (Objective Type)

Part A: English Language:

Questions in this component will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on:

a. Error Recognition

b. Fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc)

c. Vocabulary

d. Spellings

e. Grammar

f. Sentence Structure

g. Synonyms

h. Antonyms

i. Sentence Completion

j. Phrases and Idiomatic use of words

There will be a question on passages and comprehension of passages also. The standard of the questions will be only of 10+2 level.

Part B: General Awareness:

Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Geography, Economic, General Policy, Scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

Paper II (Conventional): Arithmetic

This part will include questions on problems relating to:

a. Number systems

b. Computation of whole numbers

c. Decimals and fractions

d. Relationships between numbers

e. Fundamental arithmetical operations

f. Percentages

g. Ratio and proportions

h. Averages

i. Interest

j. Profit & loss
