Syllabus for High Court Clerk Exam – Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh

The pattern of written examination, for the post of Clerk in Subordinate Courts of Haryana, Punjab and U.T. Chandigarh has been revised for the exam to be sonducted in September 2012.
The modified pattern for the written examination for Recruitment of Clerks in Punjab and Haryana High Court is provided below. The major change is inclusion of subjective paper for English language.
Test Pattern:
Duration: 2 hours
Maximum Marks: 100
Number of Questions: 160 (Objective) + 2 (Subjective)
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer
Syllabus and Topics:
The written test for Clerks in Punjab and Haryana High Court will have the following topics:
1. General Knowledge (100 Qs, 50 Marks, Objective)
2. English Composition Part I (60 Qs, 30 Marks, Objective)
3. English Composition Part II (2 Qs, 20 Marks, Subjective)
a. Essay / Paragraph of 200 words (10 Marks)
b. Translation from Hindi / Punjabi to English (10 Marks)
Qualifying Criteria:
At least 33% marks in both General Knowledge and English
AND
Al least 40% marks in aggregate
Proficiency Test:
Candidates thrice the number of vacancies may be short listed amongst the candidates who have qualified the written examination. They will have to qualify the proficiency test in operation of computer (word processing and spreadsheets) of 20 marks by obtaining minimum 40% marks. Marks of this test would not be counted towards the main merit as this test is only of qualifying in nature.
