Staff Selection Commission (SSC) invites applications for the recruitment to the post of Scientific Assistant in Indian Meteorological Department (a Group B Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post):
Part I Online Application Starts:

Part II Registration On:
October 28, 2011 (up to 5 PM)
Written Test:
Dec 18, 2011
Scientific Assistant:
465 (Gen: 230, OBC: 128, SC: 70, ST: 37)
Pay Scale:
Rs. 9300 - 34800 (grade pay Rs. 4200)
Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Physics as one of the subject)/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Applications or Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized Institution/ University or equivalent.
Age Limit:
28 years
Application Fee:
Women/ SC/ST/PH/XSM: NIL
Others: Rs. 100
The application fee can only be paid through State Bank of India challan in the branches or using on-line payment facility of State Bank of India.
Written Test Syllabus:
The examination will be conducted in two stages:
A. Written Test (400 marks)
B. Interview (100 marks)
Written Test:
Two papers with 200 marks each of 2 hour duration. First paper will consists of 200 questions of objective multiple choice (Higher Secondary Standard).
Paper I (Objective Type):
(i) General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 Qs, 50 Marks)
(ii) Quantitative Aptitude (50 Qs, 50 Marks)
(iii) English language & Comprehension (50 Qs, 50 Marks)
(iv) General Awareness (50 Qs, 50 Marks)
Paper II (Conventional Type - Descriptive)
Physics, OR
Computer Science and Information Technology,
OR
Electronics & Telecommunication Engg.
Note:
1. Answer sheet of Paper-II (Conventional Type) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Paper I at the standard as decided/fixed by the Commission at its discretion.
2. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I
