Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) invites applications for Recruitment of 1250 Probationary Officers (PO)
Scale:
JMG - I (Rs.10000-18240)
Age Limit (as on Jan 01, 2009):
21-30 years
Reservation:
UR: 583, OBC: 311, SC: 172, ST: 184 = TOTAL 1250
Qualification:
General Candidates:
Arts Graduate: minimum 60 %
Other Graduates: minimum 65 % marks.
SC/ST/PC candidates:
Arts Graduates: minimum 55% marks
Other Graduate: minimum 60% marks.
(i) The Degree should be from a recognised university
(ii) Computer literacy shall be an essential qualification, which the candidate must either possess before or acquire within six months of joining the Bank.
(iii) Diploma in Banking & Finance (DBF) from Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) is a desirable qualification besides the above entry level qualification.
Application Fee:
Rs.400/- (Rs.50/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in cash at the any of the IOB and take candidate's copy of Payment Receipt Challan.

Selection Process:
A. Written Examination:
The Written Examination will comprise of Objective Test and Descriptive Test details of which is furnished hereunder:
a) Objective Test
Objective Test consisting of Test of:
a. Reasoning Ability (75 questions)
b. Quantitative Aptitude (50 questions)
c. General Awareness (50 questions)
d. English Language (50 questions)

Total Marks: 200
Time Duration: 135 minutes
Negative Marking: There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the objective tests which will result in negative marks for every wrong answer @ one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question. The candidate shall be required to qualify in each objective test as per cut-off mark determined on the basis of performance in each test, subject to minimum of 40% ( 35% for reserved category) in the aggregate of 200 marks for the objective test. Candidates failing to obtain the minimum qualifying marks will not be declared to have cleared the objective tests. The test of English language is for ‘Qualifying purpose' only.
b) Descriptive Test
Descriptive Test to test the wealth of ideas, higher order cognitive abilities, organisation of ideas in a logical coherent manner, written communication skill etc in a concise manner. Language composition, clarity of thoughts and brevity are also matters of consideration in descriptive test. There will be 5 compulsory questions with internal options. The candidates will have an option to write the answers in English or Hindi. The Descriptive Test carries total marks of 100 with total time duration of 60 minutes. The minimum qualifying marks will be 40% ( 35% for Reserved Category) The status of descriptive test is for qualifying purpose only. Hence though the candidate has also to pass in the Descriptive Test, the marks obtained in the Test will not be reckoned for the purpose of Merit Ranking.
