Last updated: March 8, 2012 by Sarbjit+
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched ‘Bhuvan’ on August 13, 2009. It is being seen as a challenger to Google Earth (Bhuvan means earth, in Sanskrit). Developed in house Bhuvan will provide high resolution imagery which will be more accurate than Google earth. Google Earth can show details upto 200 metres while Bhuvan can show images upto 10 meters. India plans to use Bhuvan for real time analysis to predict and manage natural disasters and military operations.
