The J&K Civil Services (Judicial) Competitive Examination will be conducted by the J&K Public Service Commission at Srinagar and Jammu.

Number of posts: 35 (GEN: 18, SC: 02, ST: 07, Backward Area: 06, LoC: 01, Social Caste: 01)
Qualification:
i. A Bachelor of Laws of a University established by Law in India; or
ii. A Barrister of England or Northern Ireland or a member of the faculty of Advocates in Scotland or holding any other equivalent law degree recognized by the Government of India.
Age as on 01.01.2008: 18 years to 35 years.
3. Must be a Permanent Resident of the J&K State as defined in Section 6 of J&K Constitution.

Application Fee: Rs.50/- (excluding the processing charges of Rs.10/-) to be paid in cash through the counters of J&K Bank Ltd. opened in PSC offices at Jammu/Srinagar.
How to Apply:
The J&K PSC has developed a Scanable Application Form (OMR) for the J&K Civil Services (Judicial), Competitive Examination which will be processed on computerized machines. Before filling of the Application Form the candidate should carefully go through the instruction sheet enclosed with the Application Form. The Application Form should be filled up neatly and correctly. The candidates are required to get the Application Form (duly filled in) photocopied. Photograph duly signed and attested by Ist Class Magistrate should be pasted at the relevant place in the Application Form. The candidates are further advised to attach attested copies of documents/testimonials with the photocopy of the Application Form and not with the original Application Form.
The OMR Application Form, photocopy of the filled up Application Form alongwith documents/testimonials etc. shall have to be submitted in the Commission office at Jammu/Srinagar personally in the special envelop supplied by the Commission for the purpose or mailed, by registered post to the address of Secretary, J&K Public Service Commission, Pragati Bhavan, Rail Head Complex, Jammu/Polo Ground, Srinagar, before the last date notified for the purpose.
Documents to be attached with the photocopy of Application Form:
The following Documents/ testimonials duly attested by the Ist Class Magistrate over his official seal and stamp should be attached with the photocopy of the Application Form:
(a) Matriculation or Secondary School certificate in proof of date of birth;
(b) University Certificates showing that he holds requisite minimum educational qualification as prescribed;
(c) Certificates of good character from the Principal of the College in which he was last educated and from two responsible persons of status (not relatives), who are well acquainted with him in private life, and are unconnected with his University, College, or School life;
(d) Permanent Resident Certificate; and
(e) Category Certificate, if any, issued under SRO 294 of 2005 dated, 21.10.2005 duly revalidated and valid on the last date of receipt of Application Forms.
Examination Fee:
Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for Reserved categories) (excluding the processing charges) to be paid in cash through the counters of J&K Bank opened in PSC Offices at Jammu/Srinagar.
Last date for receipt of Applications:
The applications shall be received at the counters set up for the purpose in Commission Offices located at Pragati Bhavan, Rail Head Complex, Jammu/Polo View, Srinagar on all working days (Monday to Friday) from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. up to 12.12.2008 which shall be the Last Date. Applications received through Speed post/courier services of any type shall be treated as having been received "By Hand" at the Commission's counter. Application received after the above last cut off date will not be entertained under any circumstances and all such applications will be deemed to have been summarily rejected.
Scheme of Examination
The examination shall be conducted in the following order:
i. Written Test;
ii. Viva Voce Test; and
iii. Physical Fitness Test.
(I) Written Test (Essay type).
The written examination shall include compulsory and optional papers and every candidate shall take all the compulsory papers and three out of the optional papers. Each paper carries a maximum 100 marks. The time allowed for each paper shall be three hours. Candidates obtaining such minimum qualifying marks, subject-wise and in the aggregate, as may be fixed by the Commission after considering the results of the examination and the number of vacancies to be filled, shall be summoned by it for via-voce. Candidates who have failed in two or more subjects according to the standard so fixed by the Commission, shall not be eligible either for viva-voce or for selection.
(II) Viva-Voce
The viva-voce test carries a maximum of 140 marks. The object of viva-voce examination is to assess the candidate's intelligence, general knowledge, personality, aptitude and suitability.
After the examination the candidates will be arranged by the Commission in the order of merit as disclosed by the aggregate marks including those obtained in viva-voce finally awarded to each candidate and in that order so many candidates as are found by the Commission in their discretion to be qualified by the Examination shall be recommended for appointment upto the number of unreserved vacancies decided to be filled on the result of examination:
Provided that any candidate, belonging to a class regarding which a provision for reservation of appointment or posts has been made, who though not qualified by the standard prescribed by the Commission is best in order of merit according to the result of the examination from that class shall be recommended for appointment to vacancies reserved for members of such class in that service.
(III) Physical Fitness Test:
No person shall be appointed as a member of service unless he/she be in a good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his duties as Member of the Service. Before a candidate who has passed the examination is finally approved for appointment to the service, he shall be required to undergo an examination by Medical Board arranged for by the Commission for which he will have to pay the prescribed fee.
Note: Instructions to appear before Medical Board shall not be understood to mean that a candidate if found fit, will necessarily be given an appointment as the number of candidates who will be summoned for medical examination will generally be in excess of the total number of available vacancies.

sir,
while filling the kas application form i am not able to recognise that which language paper i selected for the mains. In optional subject i selected civil engineering and history. So please send me the application form format so that i can recognise something from it.
