What is IBPS CWE?
IBPS Common Written Examination (CWE) is conducted for selection of personnel for Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee posts in the Public Sector Banks and some other organisations. The CWE for Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee posts was earlier conducted twice a year by IBPS, but has been limited to once a year now. IBPS issues Scorecards to candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks and above in each test of the examination. This is the eights edition of the CWE PO exam, which was started in 2011 for the first time. Before that all banks used to conduct separate written test for their vacancies.
What is IBPS PO Selection Process?
Every year lakhs of job seekers apply for IBPS PO. This caused a lot of logistics issues for IBPS. That is why IBPS decided to divide the Recruitment process into three different stages. At each level some candidates are eliminated, and the qualifying candidates move to the next stage. The selection process follows these steps:
Tier 1: Preliminary Exam
Based on the number of posts, sufficient candidates are shortlisted for the Mains exam based on their performance in the preliminary exam. This is an elimination round, so the marks are not counted in the final merit.
Tier 2: Main Exams
This is the final stage of written tests. Candidates need to qualify this stage with high marks to be eligible for the final interview. Candidates equal to only three to four times the original number of vacancies are called for the next stage.
Tier 3: Interview
The last stage is interview. The interviews are conducted by the respective banks and a final merit list is made fixing a cut-off for each category in all the states.
Note: The marks scored in the preliminary stage are not counted in the final merit. The allotment of jobs in participating banks is done of the bases of marks scored in the Mains exam and the Interview.
What is Provisional Allotment in IBPS?
When the candidates apply for IBPS PO, they must fill a priority list of banks that they wish to join. Based on this preference, and their marks, candidates are provisionally allotted to participating banks. The banks then ask the candidates to appear for physical verification of documents and certificates. The final joining dates are decided by the banks after the verification and medical tests are complete.
When is IBPS CWE Exam in 2018?
The IBPS CWE-VIII PO Preliminary Exam is scheduled on 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st October 2018. However the dates may change in exceptional circumstances.
The IBPS PO Main Examination will be held on November 18, 2018. Only the candidates selected in the pre-exam will be eligible to sit for the main exam.
